Backyard landscaping in La Jolla by: PacifiCoastal Design

This was backyard renovation we completed for a client La Jolla on Mt Soledad.  After the pool was installed we completely renovated the backyard landscaping with new retaining walls, plants, irrigation lighting and a fruit orchard.

      Plant of the month: Iris

One of my favorite plants to use near a pool are this rare form of white Iris as seen here.    They have not only a huge beautiful white flower that blooms profusely but it also have very attractive foliage of a blue/green/grey evergreen leaves.   They are not very messy so you won't have to worry about cleaning it out of the pool.    It adds a lush tropical naturalistic touch to the pool area.   We choose other plants that would compliment its color scheme but the white flowers really take center stage and showcase this amazing landscape.   It is important the soils are properly prepared, fertilized and amended and proper drainage.   It is best to hire a expert before installing plant to access your soil conditions, light, etc.   Contact PacifiCoastal Design for a free home consultion @ http://www.pacificoastaldesign.com

Tuscan Landscaping in San Diego California

San Diego has some of the best weather in the United States for growing plants and a wide variety of them.  Our climate is similar to that of the Mediterranean Sea countries such like Spain, France, Italy etc.   Tuscan design is quite popular here in San Diego because many of the same plants grow here as they grow there.  Weather is moderate, not to cold or hot, and not too humid.  Tuscan Design incorporates subtle colors, earth tones, natural materials like stone,  decomposed granite pathways, boulders, rustic timber patio structures, fruit orchards, olive trees, cypress trees, grasses, bougainvilla, lavender, etc.   This naturalistic & rustic landscaping style  has been won over & adopted by many housing communities & homeowners alike.   A touch of old world into a new house give a homely established feel, which is what homeowners are looking for,  not just another track home.   It is important to find a good landscape designer to help you choose materials, plants, etc.  It is worth the investment to hire and expert and get the work done right.  Contact PacifiCoastal Design for a free home consultation and home evaluation @ http://www.pacificoastaldesign.com
